Top shot is on his 10'2'' ''Crazy Train'' Quad at Jaws- he already lost his 9'8'' on the rocks this day.
Bottom is his second wave ever on his 9'8'' C.T. quad, last year at Mavs. He ate shit super bad on his first wave, and said he wanted to wait for a little smaller one to try it out again before writing it off as a widow maker. His next wave ended up being the biggest wave of the day, and of course he went... turned out to be one of his best guns yet! We are lucky to have such a freak to make sure the boards go good.
This is shot in Micronesia- P-Pass to be exact, and it looks like he's riding his 6'0'' Next Step, the same model he rode to win the Sunset contest and Triple Crown ! Pretty good board to have if you are gonna go on a trip to any kind of good surf!
Raoni was ripping throughout the whole final day, using the 6'7'' Next Step we made him. He was throwing huge fans and flying through sections with style. Congratulations for a great showing and thanks for the support!!!
From left- 6'0'' x 18.50 x 2.25 Flash with JPX outline Squash
6'0'' x 18.50 x 2.25 JPX Round Tail
6'0'' x 18.63 x 2.25 Flash Squash
These boards are all one inch longer than his main shortboards, built to suit the forecast of pumping swell for next week at the Rip Curl Peniche contest!!
Darmaputra Tonjo (IND) caused the upset of the event thus far, eliminating number two seed Nat Young (USA) in Round 2, sending Young home with a last place finish. Tonjo came bursting out of the gates, netting an 8.00 (out of a possible 10) on his opening ride for a series of super fast snaps and carves. Young was left hunting a 6.67 and caught a wave in the last 5 minutes, but came up short only managing a 6.10.
We could not be more proud to see that John John Florence will be making the HUGE move onto the World Tour, starting next week at Trestles!! He will be joining the tour after Yadin Nichols broke his leg in Japan last month. More info to follow...
Since John John has been doing so well in the last 2 months, he has jumped from 79th to 39th in the QS ( or whatever it is these days), and now has a chance at making the top 32 cut-off if he can make it through some heats in the U.S. Open! We are sending a fresh box of boards, and can't wait to see what is gonna happen! We are so stoked for him!
